Introduction Edit

This article explains how the internal SATA 3,5" Hard Drive from the ScreenPlay Pro HD unit can be upgraded into a new one, for instance if you want to increase HD capacity or to decrease it (may sound weird but an example may be in case you don't use it too much because you use more external USB HD or Network data.

Extract Hard Disk Edit

Follow instructions from the article Taking apart the Hard Disk drive

Introduce new Hard DiskEdit

Follow in reverse order instructions from the article Taking apart the Hard Disk drive

Setup new Hard Disk Edit

Connect drive in USB mode to a PC and install latest firmware version as explained in the article Firmware.

Warning: this action will remove all the data contents from new Hard Disk introduced within ScreenPlay Pro HD unit.

Transfer contents from previous Hard Disk into new one Edit

There are two possibilities to perform this action:

  1. Before swapping Hard Disks:
    1. Connect ScreenPlay Pro HD as USB drive into a PC with capacity enough to make a backup of the existing contents of the multimedia drive.
    2. After Hard Disk has been upgraded, connect back ScreenPlay Pro HD as USB drive into a PC and transfer back previous backup
  2. After swapping Hard Disks:
    1. Connect extracted Hard Disk into a PC, using one of the following methods:
      • Internal Connection: use a SATA cable and SATA power and install Hard Disk within the PC as an additional internal drive
      • External Connection: use an USB/eSATA external Hard Disk case to install extracted Hard Disk and connect it into a PC
    2. Connect ScreenPlay Pro HD as USB drive into same PC
    3. Copy data from original (extracted) Hard Disk into new one (ScreenPlay Pro HD)
