Forums: Index > Help desk > ScreenPlay Director HD - Torrent and Telnet How to?

hello,

I just bought the new ScreenPlay Director HD 2TB and looking at the forums I only saw instructions to enable telnet and Torrent for older / other models. It apears that this version has a hidden partition. Does anyone knows how to have access on it to enable torrent and telnet?

Thanks

The ScreenPlay Director is a very different firmware, not created from the realtek SDK and does not use the realtek chip. It is likely that the information for the ScreenPlay Pro HD will not work for the ScreenPlay Director. Having said that, the information I'm about to give you is for the ScreenPlay Pro but you may be able to glean some information from it while trying to understand the Director.
There is an unallocated space on the ScreenPlay Pro HD, the first 9 cylinders as I recall. This is where it initially boots from, and when you do a firmware update it puts the "new firmware" in these first 9 cylinders. After that are 4 partitions. the first partition is the linux OS that it boots. The second partition is a writable linux partition where the database and other information is stored, but also includes some other linux programs. The third partition is a linux swap drive, and the fourth is the multimedia partition. To get at the first two, just mount it to a linux OS. From there, you can see if Telnet is even on the drive, or if they are using something else, like ssh. --JCoug 15:09, September 14, 2010 (UTC)
JCoug,
Thanks, but even when I try to mount it on linux I can just see 3 partitions. The only partition that has folders like download manager, wymedia and others. Any tricvk to mount the first partition?
Thanks
Do you know what format each of the partitions are set up as? fdisk on linux can tell you. --JCoug 04:46, September 26, 2010 (UTC)
