Hi! I have the blinking blue light on my ScreenPlay Pro HD. I tried to connect it to my computer via USB and update the firmware, but it doesnt find the drive, so i cant update the firmware. (I tried with differnet USB, different computer, etc...)

I tried to connect it to computer via SATA, getting the hard disk out, and connect directly to the SATA connection, and it works. I see the new drive, with all my files. But the DataInstaller.exe dont find the iomega drive connected (probably becose its not connect via usb).

Could you help me? What can i do to install the firmware?

The fact that the drive is still working and showing you the files suggests that it is not a firmware problem. The firmware is put onto the drive in the first few sectors of the drive. In USB mode, the firmware from the drive doesn't load. That's why you can put a new firmware on it when you have a new drive. What it suggests to me is that the board is not communicating with the drive. Double check that the drive is firmly plugged into its SATA and power connectors inside the screenplay. If you happen to have another SATA drive you can try putting that into the Screenplay, hook it to the computer via USB and see if the computer sees the drive. If it does not, then I think you've got a hardware problem. If it does see it, then take the original screenplay sata drive and connect it to your computer via the sata port, copy your stuff of and reformat it in the computer and then plug it in and try to install the firmware again. --JCoug 16:05, April 19, 2010 (UTC)


Thanks for your answer. I agree, maybe could be a hardware problem. I'll try to connect the drive with another USB-SATA to my computer, and also check the drive is firmly plugged.

My disk is a Seagate ST31000340AS with Firmware SD15. You think that could be the problem, and i need to fix it?

Do you need to apply the seagate firmware fix? yes. But I don't expect that to fix the problem that you are seeing. It is a preventative measure to stop the "BSY" problem where the drive spins up but won't allow any access to the data that is on it. If you can still see the drive on your computer then you are not having the BSY problem. --JCoug 22:58, April 19, 2010 (UTC)
